but though this move has been tinged with sadness for what I've left behind, its a great joy to be pursuing new adventures in one of the most fantastic cities I know. this move has brought me closer to family, to love, to old and new friends, and back to the beating heart of the state I belong in. lookout Madison, its about to get real.
a slew of projects are already on my musical slate.
first, Buffalo Gospel, a group led by my great friend Ryan Necci, is a project which I had initially been part of forming a few years ago but was unable to pursue due to the space/time continuum being rather rigid for my needs. this Milwaukee based band mixes George Jones style old country songwriting and a stubborn Americana feel with a dash of indie rock musicality. Ryan is the best songwriter, really. I've never had the pleasure of knowing someone who knows someone who can write a story better than he can.
next is Honest Monday, a group of my favorite guys from Milwaukee, including Craig Baumann on guitar, Danny Miller on harmonica, and Ryan Ogburn on mandolin. you may have heard me chumming around with these guys before, but lookout for a lot more of that. so much fun to play with these guys, its a four piece acoustic band playing acoustic soul revival music, from the dirtiest blues to bluesgrass, its one part Bill Monroe, one part Otis Redding, and one part Charlie Musselwhite. seriously good times.
and finally i've got a ton of other irons in the fire, between meeting new folks in Madison and working on my own original material, I'm sure there will be plenty more to report on as soon as I get settled into the scene around here. take time to make the time, and we'll see you down the road!
